The Historic Ocean Springs Saltwater Flyfishing Club
HOSSFly is a fly-fishing club that has been active in Ocean Springs since 1968. We get together in sportsmanship, fellowship, conservation and learning through the sport of fly fishing.
For more information please:
HOSSFly Club meetings are on the first Tuesday of each month at 6:00 PM at the Ocean Springs Yacht club, 100 Front Beach Dr., Ocean Springs, Ms. New members are always welcome. Dues are $25/year or $15 if paid by February 28.
During our meetings we plan fly-fishing related activities, hear fishing reports or a guest speaker, show a fly-fishing video, demonstrate knot tying, practice fly-casting or learn how to tie new flies.
2014 Membership Dues - are due! Please send a check for $15 to our Treasurer, Mike Sharpe, at his address on the "Officers" page, or bring it by the March meeting. We will set our mailing lists for 2014 after that date and dues will increase to $25.
April Shell Island trip - Bob Effinger has been busy plotting a trip to the Shell Island area south of Tallahassee - April 24-27 - shellislandfishcamp.com - 850-925-6226 The trout fishing can be incredible and you will not find such miles and miles of clear water grass flats anywhere - real old Florida. Make your reservation early as they will fill up early for the Spring fishing. There are "fish fry" facilities and we should have a great time. May Meeting - HOSSFLY favorite Tom Jindra will visit with us on May 6 at 6pm at the OSYC. Tom has received numerous awards and served in many capacities for the Federation of Fly Fishers. He is a Master Casting Instructor and also our area TFO representative. Don't miss his visit! (rescheduled - Jim Franks and Brandon Schuler will visit with us later in the year.)
May Fishing trip - We have not been able to secure a weekend out at Cat Island, but have a great alternative. The Eastern Shore Fly Fishers have a big house out on the Fort Morgan peninsula for ~ the week of May 10-17. There is currently lots of room. HOSSFLY is cordially invited, and members Chuck Fisk, Todd Thomas and Jeff Deuschle should be there ~ Saturday and Sunday, 5/10-11 and perhaps later in the week. We will have some "boat drinks" and dinner together Saturday night - boat launch, restaurant... etc. are all available nearby. We are catching fish over there right now (see the "Fishing/News" page) and many of you have asked about fishing the Alabama Beaches. This is a great chance to do just that and get better acquainted with the ESFF bunch! Details to be posted on the ESFF facebook page or contact Jeff Deuschle at firstname.lastname@example.org or Wally Kirkland at email@example.com.
